Supplements

We cannot get everything we need from diet alone, plenty of research shows that when people who supplement with vitamins and minerals reduce their risk of major lifestyle diseases and they don’t get sick as often.  A good multi vitamin, mineral, antioxidant formula and essential fatty acids mix is what you want to aim for.  This is very individual.

Be aware of the following:
  • It is not what you put in your mouth it is what your body can absorb.  
  • A lot of over the counter supplements are designed more for marketing than for results.  
  • Water soluble vitamins only stay in the system for upto 12 hours  - there is no such thing as a 1 vitamin a day and you can’t get it all in 1 pill unless it’s the size of a plum !   
  • Many supplements in tablet form don’t even get digested and pass straight through you.
